Toby was born in 1971 in the capital city of Tehran. His talent for fine arts was recognized from an early age by his family. For his eleventh birthday his older brother gave him an instructive book on portraiture and from then on he spent much of his spare time learning to paint. At the age of fifteen, Toby attended Fine Arts High School in Tehran where he met Prof. Eyzad Panah, an excellent watercolor specialist. This began a fascination with the magical qualities of the medium. After school he spent two years at the University of Fine Arts Tehran.

In 1998 he left Persia to pursue a career as an international artist. He traveled to Austria and there began study. Firstly in Linz and one year later in Vienna under Prof. Weibel, one of the most famous Austrian media artists and current director of “Center for Art and Media” in Karlsruhe in Germany.

Today, Toby’s artworks are on exhibition in London, Vienna and Linz. He is living and working in Vancouver, Canada. Visit artist's official on: www.TobyMalek.com
